Old Dominion University Swipes Funds From College Republicans To Fund A Trip To A Gay Festival. FOR REALS.

A clever and competent reader sent us this story, and it's kind of blowing my mind that it's not getting more attention, so I'm going to give it some. 
According to that sourcelink, the Old Dominion University College Republicans are getting completely screwed out of money that is rightfully theirs, by a finance director who is using it to send himself and others to a gay festival in the UK.

The College Republicans at ODU had money left in their budget from the fall semester, and they put in a request to have that money transferred to the next semester to be used to send some of its members to CPAC, which they do every spring. The Vice Chairman of the College Republicans, Alex Neff, sent the following email to Connor Norton, the finance director from the student government - and the subject line read "ODU College Republicans - Transferring money":
Fast forward to this week. On Wednesday, February 19th, the College Republicans received a letter from Connor Norton saying that because they "did not submit an email by January 17, 2014 concerning the use of their budget allocation, that up to half would be taken away and put back into the SGA's collective pot."
Perhaps you're saying to yourself, "Wait a minute - they DID send an email saying that they were going to transfer the money to the spring semester for CPAC and it was approved BY Connor Norton well before January, so how the heck is Connor Norton trying to say they didn't send the email?"
Yeah. It gets even better.
On February 18th, the day before the College Republicans received that letter from Norton, the SGA Finance Director, the same SGA voted to allocate a bunch of money to the Starving Artists, a campus student production company, so that they could travel to "The International Dublin Gay Theater Festival." And guess who the president of the Starving Artists club is? Why, it's none other than Connor Norton. The SGA Finance Director. And he plans to attend the Gay Theater Festival in Dublin.
Yup. The same person in charge of taking away money from the College Republicans, is also in charge of overseeing funds that will pay for his OWN FREAKING TRIP to Dublin. He has sole authority over the funds, and has the discretion to return funds to the College Republicans, but he's got a Gay Festival to get to, y'all. PRIORITIES.

In short order, Connor replied as follows:“Mr. Norton,This is Alex with the ODU College Republicans and I wanted to be able to transfer $1,125 from our speaker money budget to the budget for CPAC. (Conservative Political Action Conference) I was wondering if you could to that as soon as possible, thanks. We would greatly appreciate it and just ask if you need anything from our end.”
And you know what? Connor DID get that done by the end of the day. And as you can see from his response, IT WAS NO PROBLEM. This was back in November of 2013.“Dear Alex,That will be no problem, I’ll have that done before the end of the day.”
