New York Times Criticizes Trump For Using Teleprompter, Catches Instant Flak

“On Tuesday night, we are told, he looked sober and presidential, when all he actually did was read a speech from a teleprompter without veering off into one of his incoherent rants,” Rosenthal wrote.
“It’s hard to believe that even the ill-disciplined and narcissistic Trump would have stood in the well of the House of Representatives and tried to lead a chant of ‘lock her up’ or slapped journalists with the ‘enemy of the people’ label that has been a favorite of dictators for more than a century,” he continued.
Apparently Rosenthal forgot how much Barack Obama used a teleprompter during his eight years as president.
Twitter users weren’t about the let The New York Times get away with the hypocrisy.
Last June, it was speculated that his teleprompter broke while he gave a speech in which he took verbal swipes at Trump. The result was a stuttering and incoherent couple of seconds.
Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh was one of the first to point out back in 2008 that Obama relied too heavily on a teleprompter.
“I’ve constantly noted, ladies and gentlemen, you take the prompter and the written speeches away from Barack Obama, and you have nothing,” Limbaugh said. “You have nothing like the guy with the soaring rhetoric and the inspiring and sermon-like quality.”
Luckily there’s enough sanity left in the world that quite a few people realize the truth: Rosenthal liked Obama and doesn’t like Trump, so he employs two different standards. Just another day at the office for the mainstream media.
