Perhaps you’ve seen it. Just one of dozens of news magazines covers to come featuring Barack Obama on the cover. This one, though, has a caption. It says “Why are Obama’s Critics so Dumb?” The accompany article is by Obama sycophant Andrew Sullivan, and it signals the beginning of an age-old Democrat theme in presidential elections: Conservatives are stupid, liberals are smart. Gerald Ford; clumsy and dumb. Ronald Reagan: dumb. George H.W. Bush, affable, but dumb. George W. Bush, dumb. Now if you are a critic of Barack Obama, you’re just dumb. What a surprise.

Look … there are going to be three constant themes during the campaign

  1. Republicans and conservatives are ignorant.
  2. Republicans and conservatives are racists.
  3. Republicans are only for the rich.

Yawn.

On the “George W. Bush is ignorant” theme. This was prevalent during the Bush/Kerry campaign. Bush was stupid, Kerry was brilliant. Well .. you do know that both Bush and Kerry went to Yale, don’t you? So why not compare their grades at Yale and see if this Bush-dumb Kerry-smart thing held water? The truth? Both were pretty much average students at Yale. Kerry’s four-year grade average was 76. George Bush? His average was 77. Not much of a difference, but Bush actually had better grades. Yeah .. that really fit in to the Kerry campaign line, didn’t it?

Let’s address the “Republicans are racists” meme here as well. This campaign tactic was really on display at the MLK ceremonies at the Ebenezer Baptist Church yesterday. Instead of honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the speakers – including the pastor and Obama’s dear, dear Valerie Jarrett (“we will be ready to rule from day one”) – held a political rally for Barack Obama, during which they accused Republicans of various tones of racism. On MLK Day the race baiters turned the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church into the national headquarters for the Barack Obama campaign – and yet the tax exemption will remain in place. Most voters just aren’t bright enough (remember --- government schools) to understand the motivation behind this Democrat party line.

You need to realize that race baiting is an essential and crucial part of Obama’s reelection campaign. In 2008 Obama got about 97% of the black vote. Some of the more independent-thinking blacks have come to the realization that Obama isn’t working out all that well for them. His support level among blacks is now down to the mid-80s. This spells disaster for Obama in the election, so these black voters must be motivated – they have to be brought back to the plantation. Runaways are especially troublesome when Election Day nears. How to motivate: Scream “The racists are coming! The racists are coming!” Frighten the less intelligent black voters into believing that if Barack Obama isn’t elected they’re suddenly not going to be seated at lunch counters and they’ll find black and white waiting rooms at airports. Oh yeah! A Republican president means the return of Jim Crow!

Just watch … you’ll see this theme more and more. We’re going to have plenty of time to comment on it in the months to come.
