But we are also getting record cold spells and snowfalls. So why aren't they indicators of some return to a little ice age? In Western Canada, where I live and worked with the Meteorological Service of Canada for 31 years, the 43 hottest temperatures ever recorded were all recorded on or before 1961. What does that indicate? Not much. and neither do heat waves and bush fires. - ‘Bottom line: the ‘no upward trend’ has to continue for a total of 15 years before we get worried.’ Phil JonesReply

If you predict that an incoming asteroid is going to hit earth and cause catastrophic damage.... but it turns out your prediction and calculations are incorrect and the asteroid passes you would be RELIEVED, not worried.
The only reason you would be WORRIED is because you have a vested interest in being right. It proves you are biased and not simply looking at the data to make your decisions. 
‘Other molecules’ outnumber CO2 molecules by approximately 2500 to 1.
When a molecule of CO2 absorbs a photon of terrestrial EMR it immediately (less than 0.1 microsecond, hyperphysics calc is about 0.1 nanosecond) bumps into other molecules handing off the added energy in a process called thermalization (some spell it thermalisation). Once it has handed off the energy it cannot emit a photon.
Thus the only influence that added CO2 can have is to cause the absorption/thermalization process to move slightly closer to the emitting surface.
Why isn’t thermalization (or thermalisation) mentioned in IPCC reports?
Two natural drivers have been identified that explain measured average global temperatures since before 1900 with R^2>0.9 (95% correlation) and credible values back to 1610.
