Marco Rubio’s “Luxury Speedboat” Has Nothing On John Kerry’s Tax-Dodging Yacht

Yesterday, we brought you news, fresh from the New York Times,
of Marco Rubio's luxurious credit card purchase history. It seems,
armed with a windfall from a book deal, the fiscally irresponsible
Florida politician paid off his student loans, dug himself out of debt
and bought a "luxury speedboat" that he'd had his eye one for a
while. Clearly rolling in dough, Rubio made what the Times termed a series of irresponsible purchases, culminating with a "splurge" on the 24-foot Edgewater 245CC, the perfect vehicle for navigating the choppy waters off of Miami with the family (and some rather large fish) in tow.
If you're thinking, as I am, that a 24-foot boat doesn't sound super luxurious, well, you're right. Here's a photo of the boat.

It's nice. And it's probably great for fishing. But it's certainly not the luxury yacht that the New York Times
was hoping they'd find. Perhaps Rubio is just fronting this photo and
has stashed the real boat in Mitt Romney's car elevator. They should
probably send some American Bridge researchers to investigate.
Meanwhile, as summer rolls around, another American politician is, no doubt, readying his modest, seafaring motorboat for some hours on the open sea. Only when John Kerry shoves off from Nantucket, he does it in a real luxury speedboat: a $7 million luxury yacht that was built in New Zealand, even though one of the main industries in Kerry's home region of the Atlantic coast is shipbuilding (an industry that has, by the way, been suffering of late and could have used the work - building a boat that size, according to some estimates, would employ an entire town for 6-12 months), and which Kerry docks in Rhode Island instead of Massachusetts in order to avoid the $500,000 or so in exise taxes he'd have to pay his home state.
Kerry's boat, "Isabel," which is three times the length of Rubio's, at a cool 76 feet features two cabins, "a pilot house fitted with a wet bar," and "cold wine storage" according to the Associated Press. And according to the website Extravaganzi, which features tours of the nation's most luxurious boats, cars and RVs:

The Edwardian-style interior is finished in glossy varnished teak. The Isabel can accommodate four guests in two VIP main staterooms with en-suite baths. Tenders and toys include a 13.5-foot Zodiac. And also on board there are all the bells and whistles a busy politico needs, from satellite communications to Wifi. The yacht is available to charter, if you're interesting in living like John Kerry. Rates start at $45,000. Per week. For what Marco Rubio shelled out for his "luxury speedboat" he could barely afford to live aboard Kerry's boat for a fortnight.
