9 INSANE Things In The New Democratic Party Platform

The Democratic National
Committee has released excerpts from its new
platform – and it’s even more insanely extreme than
the old platform. More so, as we’ll see. Here are the
top nine lowlights from the party of Bernie Sanders:
1. Prosecute People Who Disagree With The
Theory of Anthropogenic Climate Change. According to the platform, it’s not enough to
back climate change legislation – those who donate to
groups like the Heartland Institute that make the case
that fossil fuels are not the chief contributors to
climate change must be actively prosecuted:
Another joint proposal calling on the
Department of Justice to investigate alleged
corporate fraud on the part of fossil fuel companies
who have reportedly misled shareholders and the
public on the scientific reality of climate change
was also adopted by unanimous consent.
2. Embrace Of $15 Minimum Wage. The left’s obsession with the number
“15” comes to a head in this latest proposal. They
can’t explain just why $15 per hour should be the
minimum wage – why should Kansas companies pay the
same minimum wage as Seattle ones? – but they’re all
for it, no matter how many jobs they kill:
Acknowledging that the current minimum wage
is a starvation wage, the platform draft already
included language declaring that Americans should
earn at least $15 an hour, that the minimum wage
should be raised and indexed, and that all workers
have the right to form and join a union. It also
includes a call to end sub-minimum wage for tipped
workers and people with disabilities.
Note the addition here about tipped workers –
they want to eliminate tips for waiters and
waitresses, many of whom formally work for less than
minimum wage but earn far more with tips.
3. Abolishing The Death Penalty. This is the first time the Democrats have ever
explicitly called for abolishing the death penalty,
although they’ve been moving toward this morally
nonsensical position for quite a while. They’re all
for the death penalty for unborn babies, however…
4. Abortion For Everybody On Earth, And You
Pay. According to the platform:
The platform also vows to oppose, and seek to
overturn, all federal and state laws that impede a
woman’s access to abortion, including by repealing
the Hyde Amendment. It also strongly supports the
repeal of harmful restrictions that obstruct women’s
access to healthcare around the world, including the
Global Gag Rule and the Helms Amendment, which bars
US assistance to other countries that provide safe,
legal, abortion.
The Hyde Amendment bars federal taxpayer
funding for abortion. So you get to pay for everybody
else’s abortion. They wantall
restrictions on abortion overturned, including
partial birth abortion. They want American taxpayers
to foot the bill for abortion overseas.
5. Protectionism Is Back! Thanks to Bernie Sanders, the Democrats
now embrace trade protectionism to “protect worker’s
rights” against the scourge of “corporate profits.”
That will only cost a few million jobs.
6. Increase Entitlement Programs To Bankrupt
The Country. 2011 marked the first year on record
where Social Security took in less money than it paid
out, but the Democrats aim to make that permanent:
The Democratic Platform makes clear that not
only will Democrats fight every effort to cut,
privatize, or weaken Social Security, but we will in
fact expand it while requiring those at the top to
pay more. And pursuant to an amendment crafted by
members McKibben and Tanden, the Committee added
language that said we would we would achieve this
goal by taxing some of the income of people above
$250,000.
Taxes at this level simply won’t cover this
burden. The math doesn’t add up.
7. Amnesty For Virtually All. The new Democratic platform adds several
provisions designed to keep illegal immigrants in
America at all costs: “keeping families together,
ending family detention, closing private detention
centers, and guaranteeing legal counsel for all
unaccompanied minors in immigration proceedings.” In
other words, release everybody into the wind -- the
vast majority of detainees are in private detention
centers -- and force ICE to find attorneys for
everyone who they want to deport. This means everybody
gets to stay, folks.
8. Nationalized Healthcare. Remember when the left said it was
racist to accuse the Obama administration of aiming
for government-run healthcare? Now they’re calling for
it openly: they want “access to public coverage
through Medicare or a public option.” This is called
nationalized health care, given that subsidized
medical programs will always be cheaper than private
programs and will never go bankrupt, since they can
actively confiscate wealth from citizens to pay for
their deficits.
9. Increasing Crime. The left’s surrender to Black Lives
Matter is complete:
The current draft calls for ending the era of
mass incarceration, shutting down private prisons,
ending racial profiling, reforming the grand jury
process, investing in re-entry programs, banning the
box to help give people a second chance and
prioritizing treatment over incarceration for
individuals suffering addiction. The Committee also
voted unanimously to recognize the role activists
and recent movements have played in putting these
issues front and center in the national
conversation, as they should be.
There is no era of “mass incarceration.” There
are criminals who have committed crimes going to
prison. Grand juries aren’t the problem in America –
criminals are. Racial profiling has been illegal
across the country for years, but behavioral profiling
certainly is not. And forcing private businesses not
to ask about prior crimes is ridiculous.
The DNC has moved further to the left. Of
course. And they won't stop that gradual slide into
madness any time soon. After all, with the help of a
compliant media, they're winning.
