Here are a bunch of reasons you might want to re-think planning that European tour right about now.
> Recent attacks in Brussels
> Ongoing manhunt for members of the Brussels/Paris terror cell now spreading to Sweden
> New ISIS threats to attack the UK and Italy, among other countries
> The European Union leaders’ own admission they have no idea how many “refugees” have slipped into Europe and there are most certainly terrorists among them
And now this. The United Sates consulate has issued an emergency message to U.S. citizens traveling to Turkey:
The U.S. Mission in Turkey would like to inform U.S. citizens that there are credible threats to tourist areas, in particular to public squares and docks in Istanbul and Antalya. Please exercise extreme caution if you are in the vicinity of such areas. For your personal safety, we urge you to monitor local media.
The message also offers 8 bullet points to assist U.S. travellers in the event of an emergency, including various phone numbers, but it’s the eighth suggestion most people would find of little comfort: Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
In any event, stay tuned. And let’s pray this is just a false alarm.
