What they should have asked was which class of person these socialists will target first in their new utopia.
See... Socialism cannot be self sustaining without some form of free slave labor. Hitler had the death camps, Stalin had the gulags... but by any name you want to call them, they are slave labor camps. Eventually, you run out of expendable people and you have to target a new class of "undesirables". What did Hillary call us? "Deplorables"? Socialism is responsible for the murders of over 100 million innocent people in the last 100 years. And that's not military casualties. That's unarmed civilians being murdered by their own governments out of convenience. (Usually in work camps of some type) It's called "Democide". Look it up for yourself.
If America became a socialist country, it would last longer than most other countries because the Federal Reserve keeps pumping out more and more colored paper with numbers on it. They print the paper and the government forces us to accept it as money. The American Free Market is the juggernaut that fuels the world's economy. Socialism will do away with all of that. Sooner or later even this bastion of free market success will fail under socialism and the economy will collapse. The Fed will keep printing "money" until the value of the American dollar reaches absolute zero. Then what?
The government can't run without money and if the value of said money is zero, then how much of a tax increase will it take to allow the government to run? Do you see the problem yet? The government can't function unless it has money, and the only source of income the government has is taxes. If our money is worthless, how will we get paid? And if we're not being paid, why would we work? If your boss suddenly told you that your salary, no matter how much it was, was worthless, how long would you continue to work for him? I know what my answer would be. I'm as loyal as they come, especially with the job I have now. (I have the greatest job in the world at the best place in the world. It's literally heaven on earth.) But I have a family to feed and bills to pay. I don't have time to do free charity work without pay. What I'm describing is called "inflation". That's when things cost more because the value of the currency drops. Our inflation rate right now is crappy, but it's somewhat doable. In Germany, when the NAZIs were in control, folks would get their paychecks at lunch and use a wheelbarrow to carry their "money" to the market to buy ONE loaf of bread before the prices increased again. Imagine having to carry your money in a wheelbarrow to rush to the store to buy a loaf of bread. It sounds ridiculous, but it is a historical fact. That is what a socialist economy looks like.
Consider this: A country's economy is run on the work force. If people aren't working and earning wages, the economy suffers. That's why unemployment is so devastating. The work force participation rate (how many people are actually gainfully employed in the workforce) is the primary indicator of how well our economy is doing. If people are working, our country is being productive. If our country is being productive, we have food to buy in the supermarkets, products on the shelves, and things to trade with other countries. This is a simplification of the situation, but it's very accurate.
Now... back to the question at hand... If nobody is working and earning wages to tax, how will the government function? How will the government make the economy better? They can't pay people without collecting taxes, and without people working there can be no taxes collected. There's only one option: Slavery. The government will have to force people to work and produce in order to trade with other countries. See, even with slavery, the government can't function because slaves don't earn wages. Since there are no wages, the government can't collect taxes. The government, in order to function, HAS to sell the products abroad just to generate revenue to operate on. So... the government can't tax people who aren't earning wages, so they have to take the products produced through this slave labor and sell them to other countries in order to generate operating capital. But the dollar is still worthless, so we'll be operating on another form of currency, or a barter system.
Regardless of the system we use, which class of person would you like to see become slaves? Let's flip history and say the government chooses white people. Or maybe they go after the Jews again. Maybe it's the Hispanics? Why don't they take all of the money from the rich and enslave everyone worth more than a million dollars? Maybe they can just scoop up all of the homeless and unemployed? But that last one wouldn't work because as the economy continued to deteriorate, more and more people would become slaves and sooner or later we'd ALL be slaves to the government. Oh no! We've hit upon the very PURPOSE of Socialism!
Do the math, people. NOBODY should ever be slaves. Period. We are ALL human and we ALL have the inherent human rights imbued in us by God. We are ALL free! As a matter of fact, there would never have ever been slaves in America if it weren't for the Southern colonies. See, they wouldn't join the rebellion against England unless they'd been allowed to keep their slaves. Without their help, America would never have been able to break free from English oppression. Those southern slave owners later became Democrats. They were so dead-set on keeping their slaves that it took the forming of a new political party dedicated to freeing the slaves (Republicans), and a civil war to literally wrench the slaves free from their Democratic masters.
These Democrats are STILL butthurt over this loss. They formed the Ku Klux Klan, and enacted the Jim Crowe laws to keep black folks down. (The National Rifle Association was started, in part, to help black folks obtain and learn how to use guns in order to protect themselves against the KKK.) We had to literally FORCE a Democrat KKK member president to sign the Civil Rights bill. The only reason it hadn't been passed earlier was because of Democrat opposition. Regardless, the Democrats are STILL trying to make slaves out of folks so they can control people. No matter how pretty they paint this pig, it's still a pig. These Democrats will try and make Socialism as enticing as possible to get everyone who doesn't know better to follow them. But don't be fooled. Don't be their slaves. This turn to socialism is just another attempt by the Democrats to become slave owners again.
