CNN Paid Antifa Agitator Charged Over Capitol Riots, Court Documents Show

The far-left Antifa/Black Lives Matter agitator, who was charged by federal authorities for his role in the January 6 Capitol riots, was paid thousands by anti-Trump "news" networks CNN and NBC, bombshell court documents have revealed.

Last month, the Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed that prominent BLM activist John Sullivan was arrested by the FBI and charged with inciting the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol building.

Sullivan, a Utah-based BLM organizer and the founder of far-left group Insurgence USA, was charged after federal investigators obtained videos showing him urging protesters to become violent and destroy property while he was inside the Capitol.

As Neon Nettle previously reported, Sullivan was already placed in the center of the riots after he uploaded videos of the events to social media as they unfolded.

The activist claimed he was just there to "document" the violence, but in video footage obtained by the FBI, Sullivan can allegedly be heard egging on protesters, according to a federal criminal complaint.

Now, court filings show that Sullivan received large cash payments from outlets that have been pushing the narrative that President Donald Trump incited the violence.

“John Sullivan, charged for his participation in the Jan. 6 riots, was paid $35,000 apiece from CNN and NBC for his footage inside the Capitol,” Politico reporter Kyle Cheney revealed.

Politico reported that Sullivan - under his online handle "Jayden X" - had captured the death of a pro-Trump demonstrator, Ashli Babbitt, on video after what appeared to be a staged event, and then uploaded the video along with several others, incriminating himself in the process.

Despite his actions, Sullivan will not be banned from using social media platforms, according to Politico:

A federal magistrate judge has turned down prosecutors’ effort to block a man accused of participating in the Capitol riot from using Twitter and Facebook, but ordered him to end his involvement with a business he founded that the Justice Department says promotes and glorifies violent protests.

The defendant, John Sullivan of Utah, has maintained that he attends raucous demonstrations as a journalist, sharing videos through his Insurgence USA website and social media platforms. Sullivan’s defense attorney even filed invoices with the court showing that CNN and NBC each paid Sullivan’s firm $35,000 last month for rights to video he filmed of chaotic scenes outside and inside the Capitol, including the deadly shooting of protester Ashli Babbitt by a U.S. Capitol Police officer.

Aside from ignoring Sullivan's role in inciting the mob, CNN also invited him on as a mouthpiece.

Sullivan also uploaded video of himself and CNN's Jade Sacker after they had stormed inside the Capitol together during the riot.

However, prosecutors contend that Sullivan is not a mere bystander or chronicler of protests.

Instead, they say, he actively encourages violence, telling viewers how to make Molotov cocktails and evade identification by police. He was arrested last month on charges stemming from the Jan. 6 riot, including interfering with police during a civil disorder.

Sullivan was later hit with an additional charge: obstruction of Congress.

During the riots, video footage shows Sullivan shouting several incendiary statements during the storming of the Capitol building.

While inside the Capitol, he can be heard yelling to the mob: “We gotta burn this.”

Sullivan told Fox News shortly after the events that he’d entered the besieged Capitol to "document" what was going on and to dispute "this narrative going around" that Antifa instigators had played a role in the riot.

However, the far-left activist has a history of inciting anti-Trump violence.

As Neon Nettle previously reported, during an August 2020 Black Lives Matter protest in Washington, D.C., Sullivan was filmed giving a speech to an angry mob and unleashed a torrent of violent rhetoric while pointing to the nearby White House.

"We ... about to burn this s**t down," Sullivan vowed as he riled up the crowd.

"We gotta ... rip Trump right out of that office right there," he continued, pointing at the White House.

"We ain't about ... waiting until the next election," he warned.
