Obama’s Secret Letters to Iran
It’s no secret that Obama holds Muslims and basically anyone from the Middle East in higher respect than he does those of the country he “leads.” What does come as a recently revealed secret is that Obama has sent not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR secret letters to the leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei. The few who were briefed on the correspondence said the most recent letter sent in mid-October stresses to Khamenei that “any cooperation on the Islamic State was largely contingent on Iran reaching a comprehensive agreement with global powers on the future of Tehran’s nuclear program by the November 24 diplomatic deadline,” according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
When asked about this secret correspondence, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said he could not confirm the existence of the letter and that he is not in a position to discuss private correspondence of the president. However on Thursday the White House did confirm that Obama had sent a letter to the leader of Iran about the country’s nuclear program.
Senator Mark Kirk (R-Illinois) said in a statement to USA TODAY,
“America’s strongest move to stop a nuclear Iran isn’t sending secret presidential love letters to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, it’s passing the Menendez-Kirk legislation to get a nuclear deal with Iran.”Kirk co-sponsored legislation to increase sanctions on Iran if it doesn’t agree to a deal.On “Hannity,” Lt. Col Ralph Peters noted that Obama seems“much more comfortable in secret relations with Iranians than in being honest with Americans.” He also noted that the letter would be seen as a betrayal by our Middle Eastern allies, which plays right into the hands of ISIS.
