Sen. Bennet continues to resist the presidency of Trump
Sen. Michael Bennet distinguished himself regarding the Supreme Court
nomination. He often speaks against “hyper partisanship.” Yet Sen.
Bennet continues with fellow Democrats to resist the presidency of
President Trump. It is very unlikely that the Democrats would have
approved any nominee.
Oh yes, there is the “Garland appointment” that just can’t go away.
It is hardly a precedent since no Supreme Court Justice has been
approved in an election year since 1846.
Do we really think Harry Reid would have hesitated on a “nuclear
option” if President Obama’s nominees had not won approval? The only
reason it wasn’t done sooner was the Republicans recognized that the
president has the power to appoint justices. The Republicans voted to
approve the president’s nominees.
We are immensely proud to have a justice of Neil Gorsuch’s stature on
the Supreme Court. It is hard for some that he supports the
Constitution. All elected swear to support the Constitution, but now we
must discuss “a living constitution” — always changing, always in flux —
like the emerging countries that are lawless with no precedent of law.
Judge Gorsuch was unanimously approved by the Senate to serve on the
10th Circuit. Three Democrats voted for confirmation this time —
reaching across the aisle. But not Sen. Bennet. Leadership may have
given him a pass to vote for a judge from Colorado. Even though the
senator rails against partisanship, he stands strong for resistance and
denial of the outcome of the election results on Nov. 8.
