WikiLeaks Claims CIA Can Make Its Hacking Look Like Work Of Foreign Hackers

"... the American deep state is deeply involved ..."

WikiLeaks has released new documents that indicate the CIA has developed the capability to mislead anyone investigating its hacking exploits into thinking the hackers came from other countries, including Russia.
The CIA’s Marble software can forensically disguise viruses, trojans and hacking attacks, WikiLeaks said, so that no one will place the blame for hacking at the CIA’s door.
In its initial release of CIA hacking tools that it has dubbed Vault 7, WikiLeaks also noted that CIA hackers often covered their tracks to make it appear as though they were hackers in Russia.
WikiLeaks explained how Marble works.
In text accompanying the release of documents, it said Marble operates by “hiding (‘obfuscating’) text fragments used in CIA malware from visual inspection.”
WikiLeaks said the software was similar to the way the CIA hides English-language instructions on weapons systems given to those secretly backed by the CIA.
The report said Marble was used by the CIA during 2016.
“The source code shows that Marble has test examples not just in English but also in Chinese, Russian, Korean, Arabic and Farsi,” WikiLeaks explained.
“This would permit a forensic attribution double game, for example by pretending that the spoken language of the malware creator was not American English, but Chinese, but then showing attempts to conceal the use of Chinese, drawing forensic investigators even more strongly to the wrong conclusion,” WikiLeaks added.
According to a report earlier this month WikiLeaks, the CIA has found a way to hack into smart TVs and has been seeking ways to hack into computer-controlled vehicles.
Although the revelation of Marble comes on top of past announcements, the political importance of the WikiLeaks claim that the CIA could mask its activities to make hacking appear to be the work of another nation has been grasped by talk show host Rush Limbaugh.
” … apparently the CIA has the ability to mimic Russian hackers. In other words, the CIA has the ability to hack anybody they want and make it look like the Russians are doing it,” he said.
“Isn’t that interesting, given everything we’ve been told about the election? ‘The Russians hacked the election, that the Russians did this, the Russians did that.’ So far we don’t have any evidence the Russians did anything! But we have all kinds of supposition that the American deep state is deeply involved in whatever sabotage is being conducted on the Trump administration,” Limbaugh noted.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has also pointed out that, “the CIA could get access to such ‘fingerprints’ and then use them,” which could explain how Russia was wrongly blamed for interfering in the presidential election.
