The Class War The Hilary Rosens Are Waging is Far from 'Faux'
Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen's broadside this week against Ann Romney's decision to work at home to raise her five sons reveals everything we need to know about the transparent partisanship and viciousness of the Hilary Rosens of the world.
The attack was underscored by Ms. Rosen's attempt to convince us that the public's negative reactions to her remarks are part of some "faux war," and that we all should all just "declare peace in this phony war and go back to focus on the substance."Well, Ms. Rosen, here is "the substance": women account for 92.3% of the jobs lost under President Obama. This is a frightening statistic, and there is nothing "faux" about it.
While I do not know Ms. Rosen, being in New York I know many like her. They are in a perpetual war against the Ann Romney-type of American woman. They are jealous and bitter, harboring a seething hatred of what the Romneys represent: a wholesome, sincere, traditional American family. They desire to be viewed as superior to those women who, by luck of the draw, were born more lovely. They finesse their rage by asserting that they will not belong to any club that would have them as a member.
The Resentful Ones find it easier to demean someone or change the rules of the game than to do the hard work it takes to compete in realms where the competition is stiff. Having cast aspersions on the beauty and natural elegance of women such as an Ann Romney, they latch onto trendy "systems" and "isms" that enable them to measure up more favorably in the eyes of the only worthy judges: themselves and those of their ilk.
One of the "isms" that made the Resentful Ones into Superstars In their Own Minds was, of course, the Women's Movement. Among other things it asserted that, no worries, a woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle. While there were positive aspects of the women's movement, most former feminists have now seen the light and understand that what the leftist, controlling, commitment- and life-wrecking aspects of "liberation" ultimately left them with was no choices at all, and in some cases shattered entire lives and dreams.
There are many more women across the nation, though, able to take what was good from the women's movement and retain modern, strong, American and feminine identities. Working women with children spend whatever time they can drinking in the wonder and joy of watching, in stolen hours, their children blossom and grow. Many of their lives, especially in this economy, are difficult. Others have had the awesome fortune to be able to devote their lives in a more concentrated way to managing their home, standing by their husband's side in his many important roles, and raising children. All women working overtime to meet their responsibilities should be free of the kind of denigration we are hearing from those attempting to revive class warfare by pitting women against women to benefit Mr. Obama.
American women are taking back their traditional femininity, allowing rootedness in family and the power to inspire others to shine across the nation: in our homes, with our loved ones, and wherever the American woman chooses her place of work to be. We are not so single-issue-focused as to allow Obama operatives to frame the entire panoply of women's issues merely in terms of our reproductive organs. Our concerns include the destruction of our educational system, threats to our homeland security, the rise of jihadist Islam in America, and adopting sane healthcare reform that will work and not plunge our nation into debt for generations.
Ms. Rosen has attempted to vilify Mitt Romney by accusing him of being "so old-fashioned when it comes to women." Guess what? A man who stays married over decades to a wife he is devoted to, raises a large family by her side, stands with her through two devastating illnesses, and who still obviously considers her his "sweetheart" has, yes, an old fashioned attitude toward commitment that is most welcome in this hit-and-run world where people hook up, bring innocent children into the picture, and walk away! It cannot be left unsaid that Ms. Rosen adopted two children with her partner, Elizabeth - but then the women separated.
Thus many American women are asking Debbie Wassserman-Shultz and the Obama election team to address real women's concerns and spare us the Piqued on Parade trying to drum up a class war. The Jealous Ones should take their emotional issues to a good professional instead of taking it out on America. For this registered Democrat, President Obama has proved only one thing: he is the guy who promised us everything and never called back. What is "faux" and phony was his assurance of "hope and change we can believe in." What is real are Mr. Obama's reckless policies that have lost American women 858,000 jobs.
