CNN Cites Violent Crime Numbers Down In Spite of What Piers Morgan Says
Recently CNN host Piers Morgan has been getting his cage rattled
over the issue of gun and violent crime. Unfortunately Morgan is
completely unable to put two and two together to see the argument being
put forth to him. So is the case with many liberals with his mindset.
That’s why I hope that just maybe his own broadcast network, CNN, can
help him out here. How? Well back in October CNN posted that violent
crime was down, again, for the fifth straight year!
That’s right the network that allows for British transport and tabloid “hoax” photo promoter Piers Morgan to blather about more gun control and to fictitiously call semi-automatic rifles “assault weapons” also reported:
I might also add that according to the numbers I cited, both the murder rate and the violent crime rate has been cut in half since just before Senator Dianne Feinstein’s first “assault weapons ban” was put into place by President Bill Clinton in 1994. That ban ended in 2004 under President George W. Bush and yet numbers continued to go to half of what they were two years before the weapons ban was instituted.
What’s even more ironic, is that Piers Morgan seems to think that this is not true. Over and over he has made out like America has a higher violent crime rate than Great Britain, when it has been demonstrated that is a lie.
Something in the CNN article that I found quite telling and I think the liberals in our country who are looking to “stop mass shootings” and virtually anything and everything that can harm people cold is that they cite James Alan Fox, a criminologist at Northeastern University. Fox said, “I call it the limbo stick effect. You can only go so low. You’re never going to get down to zero crime.”
He’s right. We will never stop all crime, just like we won’t stop all deaths or people hurting themselves in accidents. So things like calling for more legislationon to infringe upon people’s rights, guaranteed under the Constitution, is just not going to work. All it’s going to do is wake people up and tick them off. Notice to the Left: People are awake and they aren’t hitting the snooze button.

Violent crime in the United States fell for the fifth consecutive year in 2011 with murder, rape and robbery all going down, although crime remains a serious problem in many urban areas, the FBI said on Monday.During almost every debate Morgan has had over the past couple of weeks, his opponent has pointed this out to him. while CNN does state that gun were used in two-thirds of the murders for 2011, not one of the opponents claimed otherwise. What they consistently demonstrated was that violent crime was down.
The report of all crimes reported to police nationwide showed slightly more than 1.2 million violent incidents nationwide, while property crimes hit a nine-year low.
Compared with 2010, the new figures show violent crime down 3.8 percent overall. Property crime was down 0.5 percent.
Among violent incidents reported to police, murders were down about 0.7 percent, robberies dropped 4 percent, aggravated assaults declined 3.9 percent, and forcible rapes were down 2.5 percent.
