Politics: Obama in church ....tweeting.
Published by: Robert Laurie on Monday January 21st, 2013
Usually, if you're in church, you shut down the cell phone out of respect for God and the people around you. If you're the President, enjoying mass on the momentous occasion of your second inauguration, one would assume you'd be so overwhelmed with honor and reverence that you wouldn't want to waste time tapping away at your screen. Even if you don't really care about the whole "church thing" and you'd rather be goofing around on Twitter, you'd probably be aware that it's crass and unbecoming. So, you'd wait until service was over.
That would be the only decent thing to do, right?
Well, no. Not if you're Barack Obama.
At 9:25 AM, this morning, the Presidential Twitter feed lit up with the message that "I'm honored and grateful that we have a chance to finish what we started. Our work begins today. Let's go. -bo"
As Obama fans know, tweets bearing the initials "bo" are special, because that's how you know they were typed directly by the president himself.
Unfortunately, at 9:25, Barack Obama was allegedly deep in prayer during a church service that didn't end for another 15 minutes.
Guess he got bored with all the "God stuff."
Robert Laurie does not use Twitter during church, but you can find him on there, @RobertLaurie, most other times.
