YOU CAN’T FIX STUPID: Congresswoman Diana DeGette Becomes The Latest Colorado Democrat Embarrassed Nationally By Her Own Words

UPDATE: It gets better. DeGette’s office responds by making another false statement about how guns work. Maybe making weed legal wasn’t a good idea? Or maybe lead sponsors on federal legislation and their staff should have to know about a topic before writing law on it.
DeGette spokeswoman Juliet Johnson on Wednesday said the senior congresswoman from Denver “misspoke” and then issued another erroneous statement about guns.
“The congresswoman has been working on a high-capacity assault magazine ban for years and has been deeply involved in the issue; she simply misspoke in referring to ‘magazines’ when she should have referred to ‘clips,’ which cannot be reused because they don’t have a feeding mechanism,” Johnson said.
Actually, clips in most guns can be reused as well.

Congresswoman Diana DeGette, who is pushing a federal gun magazine ban, got caught on tape at a Denver Post forum yesterday exposing her raw and unyielding ignorance when it comes to basic gun knowledge.
In the forum Rep. DeGette was talking about magazines when she inadvertently displayed her utter lack of gun knowledge, saying:
“I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”
No, Diana, gun magazines are not expendable. You can reload them. It’s a modern marvel of technology!
Conservative video site, Revealing Politics, reported on the statement yesterday. This morning, The Denver Post‘s Democrat blogger Allison Sherry got around to writing up the gaffe, but somehow “mistakenly” forgot to credit Revealing Politics with catching the error a full day before the Post.
“Forgot.”
Regardless of the Post‘s pettiness, national journalists across the country picked up on the shocking statement, joining the Colorado conservatives already mocking the Denver Democrat:
