 History of blacks and the Democratic party

Black people voted Republican from 1871 until 1936. In 1936 Democrat president Franklin Roosevelt came out with the New Deal which were Government programs, and at that point black people switched from the Republican party to the Democratic party. This chart and link will show you that black people have been voting Democrat for last 80 years.

Democrat president Franklin Roosevelt got 71% of the black vote in 1936.

Democrat president Harry Truman got 77% of the black vote in 1948.

Democrat president John F Kennedy got 80% of the black vote

Democrat president Lyndon Johnson got 94% of the black vote

Democrat president Jimmy Carter got 85% of the black vote

Democrat president Bill Clinton got 84% of the black vote

Democrat president Barack Obama got 94% of the black vote
 
Democrat Walter Mondale got 84% of the black vote, but he lost the election to Ronald Reagan.

Democrat Adlai Stevenson got 80% of the black vote, but he lost to Republican president Dwight Eisenhower.

Democrat George McGovern got 80% of the black vote, but he lost to president Richard Nixon.

Democrat Michael Dukakis got 90% of the black vote, and he lost to George Bush Sr.

Democrat Al Gore got 90% of the black vote but he lost

 Democrat John Kerry got 88% of the black vote but he lost, when he ran for president.

 If Blacks had not voted for Obama he would have lost.

 Whites got Obama in the White House, not his Black voters.
