Fusion GPS founder says memos from Steele dossier were sent directly to Obama: Report
October 17, 2019
Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson’s new book reportedly
claims that his firm was hired in the fall of 2015 by the Hillary
Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to
investigate Donald Trump — and that memos about the Christopher Steele
dossier which resulted from that investigation were sent directly to
then-President Barack Obama.
The money used to hire Fusion GPS was laundered through the law firm
Perkins Coie, Simpson said in his soon-to-be-released book,
Crime in Progress, according to investigative journalist Paul Sperry.
It is already well-documented that Obama’s Justice Department used
information from the now-discredited dossier to get four warrants under
the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to spy on Trump
campaign official Carter Page — but how involved was Obama really in the
attempt to take Trump down using phony information?
Obama was there
In the book, Simpson chronicles how the Trump investigation proceeded, including involvement by Obama and his administration.
According to Simpson, after the memos went to Obama, the
then-president met in January 2017 with then-FBI Director James Comey,
then-Vice President Joe Biden, then-National Security Adviser Susan
Rice, then-CIA Director John Brennan, and then-Director of National
Intelligence James Clapper to discuss the dossier.
Reports
later confirmed
this meeting and the subject matter. Being the outgoing president,
Obama would have had considerable say in what happened at the meeting.
He also would have been privy to the knowledge that material from the
dossier had already been used to get wiretapping warrants.
In fact, it’s more than likely that he was in charge of instructing the FBI to get the warrants.
What else does he know?
Information from
The Federalist and
Newsweek
has also surfaced alleging that in addition to almost $11 million paid
to Perkins Coie by the DNC and the Hillary Clinton campaign, $972,000
was paid to the firm by Obama for America. The line item only said legal
services, but what legal services would have been paid for by Obama?
Funny how it has been more than two years, and no one has bothered to
ask this question. The fact is, Obama has been working overtime to
distance himself from the investigation into the origins of the
Trump–Russia probe.
It’s clear, however, that he is in it up to his elbows, if not
higher. Despite his responsibility to stay out of the election, Obama
couldn’t resist putting his finger on the scale, even after Trump was
already elected.
I wonder what he knows about Biden and Ukraine?
